Zap! Trees Mission: To Plant 1 Million Trees by 2010

ZAP is creating a major campaign to plant 1 million trees by 2010.

Currently our manufacturer in China has agreed to plant one tree for every vehicle they make in China in the new manufacturing Plant.

We have already planted the first ceremonial tree in China:

"The America China Friendship Tree"

What is the America China Friendship Tree Project all about?
The "America China Friendship Tree" was selected to symbolize the new U.S.-China joint venture to develop forms of transportation that reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

ZAP Chairman Gary Starr says the collaboration can go a long way towards restoring a balance with nature.

Why Did You Plant Trees?
I love trees because of everything they do for us. They provide shade for us and shelter for animals, and also play one of the most important roles of creating oxygen and eliminating carbon dioxide.

10 Facts About Trees and How Trees Help Save the Environment

1) An average size tree produces enough oxygen in one year to keep a family of four breathing.

2) Three trees planted in the right place around buildings
can cut air-conditioning costs up to 50 percent.

3) Trees increase the value of property. Houses surrounded by trees sell for 18-25 percent higher than houses with no trees.

4) Trees generate jobs and contribute raw materials for buildings, newspapers, books and more than 15,000 other forest products. Trees are renewable, biodegradable and recyclable. Wood by-products become such products as vitamins, plastics, vanilla flavoring, photographic film, toothpaste and medicines.
