ZAP's New All-Wheel Electric Mini Dirt Bike

SANTA ROSA, California (April 28, 2004) – That company that electrifies all kinds of gas cars, scooters and bicycles is at it again. Northern California's ZAP (OTC BB:ZAPZ) is 'zapping' off-road minibikes this time, including what they believe to be one of the world's first all-wheel-drive, electric, mini-dirt-bikes.

With electric motors built into the hubs of the front and rear wheels, ZAP believes its new MBZ™ is the first of its kind to utilize the new technology. Direct drive wheel-motors offer two-wheel drive traction compared to conventional gasoline powered minibikes that use a chain transmission to the rear wheel. Direct drive eliminates the transmission assembly, which can get clogged with mud or dirt, helping reduce overall maintenance.

ZAP's MBZ is part of a new line-up of off-road electric vehicles planned for outdoor motorsports enthusiasts looking for an alternative to noisier, gas-powered machines. The all-electric MBZ costs pennies to fuel while offering zero-emissions and can be a great little workhorse for indoor operations, light agriculture, organic farming, ranches, nurseries, gardening—or just for fun.

With a top-speed of 25 MPH, the exhilaration of all-electric drive, quiet and vibration-free, is a refreshing change from gas. ZAP's battery-powered, wheel-motor technology eliminates gas fill-ups, oil changes and tune-ups. It plugs into any normal household outlet for a range of up to 30 miles per charge on about 10 cents of power and takes 4-6 hours for a recharge. ZAP uses hi-tensile steel construction, 16-inch knobby tires, front and rear disc brakes, headlight and horn.
