First Smart Drivers in U.S.

Dear ZAP:

Leigh and I love our Smart Car. After seeing them in France during our honeymoon four years ago, we fell in love with it and can hardly believe today we actually own one. We drive the Smart Car all over Las Vegas and love the environmental benefits of the car; we also drive a hybrid. When we pass American, gas-guzzling cars, we get stunned looks from the drivers!!

Few people can walk past our car without slowing down, walking around it and trying to peer in the windows. We bought a Pulse model with a hardtop and A/C (a must in Vegas). If people see us parking it at the store, restaurant or movies, we are invariably asked what kind of car is it; how many miles per gallon does it get, and where can they get one?

The other day Leigh said she couldn't get out of Starbucks after everyone started asking her about the car. She volunteers her time working with kids in foster care and loves driving the car. Neither of us mind telling our Smart Car story several times a day to interested strangers.

It is fun to drive and even more fun to drive past the gas pump. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to purchase the first "Americanized" Smart Car.
