Trademark for ZAP CAR approved
SANTA ROSA, California (January 19, 2005) - Advanced transportation pioneer ZAP (OTC BB:ZAAP) announced today that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has approved the registration of ZAP CAR? as a trademark for ZAP? brand automobiles.
A pioneer in electric bikes and scooters, ZAP has shifted its focus three years ago to the auto industry with plans of creating a new car company. ZAP is licensing the manufacturing and distribution of automobiles and with plans to create a line of ZAP branded automobiles powered by fuel-efficient vehicle technologies that include gasoline, hydrogen, electric and other fuels.
"At ZAP we believe that the industry is moving in a direction that favors our business plan and we have been working to create a recognized brand for this emerging market," said ZAP CEO Steve Schneider. "We like to say that ZAP stands for Zero Air Pollution, and the phrase has become a vision statement for our business. The word 'ZAP' underscores the fun and excitement of driving, owning and promoting the idea of fuel efficient transportation and we believe it is an effective brand that is starting to become recognized by consumers."
Schneider believes ZAP is one of the most recognized brands in the advanced transportation and says the small, public Company has received worldwide media coverage over the past decade with its efforts to pioneer fuel-efficient transportation. ZAP recently announced a joint venture in China that is near completion of its first manufacturing facility. ZAP has also signed a trademark licensing agreement with Zibo Enterprises Co. Ltd. of China for the rights to manufacture and distribute ZAP brand batteries worldwide. ZAP holds several trademarks, including ZAP?, ZAPPY?, and ZERO AIR POLLUTION? and others.
