LAPTOP Magazine says ZAP's new lithium-ion battery 'packs a punch'

SANTA ROSA, California (November 19, 2004) - One of the leading magazines in mobile technology, LAPTOP Magazine, praised the new ZAP Portable Energy from advanced automotive technology company ZAP (OTC BB:ZAAP) in its December 2004 holiday issue.

ZAP says its new Lithium-Ion powered Portable Energy? is spin-off technology from years of research into advanced batteries for powering automobiles. ZAP plans to introduce this patented technology in larger formats for its automotive research and development, but meanwhile the publicly owned Northern California Company is packaging the technology for mobile electronics. LAPTOP Magazine's article "Many Devices, One Charger" tested out the new ZAP Portable Energy, saying that it "can deliver an instant power boost to all sorts of devices in a pinch, including digital cameras, PDAs, portable DVD players, and cell phones. It takes 6 hours to charge, but once it's ready, you'll be able to bring nearly any piece of mobile gear back from the dead without having to be near an outlet."

LAPTOP said ZAP Portable Energy includes a DC and USB input for various voltages as well as a set of plugs to accommodate a wide range of devices. LAPTOP used the Lithium-Ion battery pack to power an Olympus digital camera, and after 200 flash shots, it had only used roughly 25 percent of the Portable Energy's power. LAPTOP gave ZAP Portable Energy 2-1/2 stars and summarized as saying that "it works exactly as advertised."
