Electric Vehicle Engineer - China Electric Cars and Vehicles - China Interface - Bilingual, English - Chinese
ZAP is seeking a Project Design Engineer for its Electric Vehicles to lead and manage the process of refining existing products, and for developing new products. The Engineer will be working with both micro-cars and electric cars, as well as other alternative energy vehicles, such as ATV’s, scooters, etc. The candidate will be working with manufacturing partners overseeing engineering, manufacturing and quality controls. This will be a highly entrepreneurial position in a highly entrepreneurial environment.
SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Project Design Engineer will execute the product development of electric vehicles and cars at ZAP: manage the process for refining and improving existing products, as well as lead the development of new products.
This includes ensuring that the Xebra continues to be the best it can be in its current price range, with focus on the electrical system, mechanical functions, general features, aesthetics, and safety aspects (COG, braking, metal fatigue, etc.). Project Management: closely manage the product development process. Manage the details, functions and strategies; work closely with the people involved at each stage. Assist in launching new electric vehicle and automotive products, including a new high speed electric vehicle. Direct, coordinate, and exercise functional authority for planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of product development. Review and improve product specifications, system layout and drafting, bill of materials and fabrication. Plan, formulate and direct engineering projects within budget guidelines. Analyze consumer and dealer input and proposed product specifications to determine feasibility proposal. Develop and conduct test programs to evaluate product performance. Test and outsource to ensure meet all governmental DOT FMVSS and other foreign and USA requirements. Assist manufacturing with new product development and manufacturing to identify and resolve problems.
New Products to include Advanced electric ATV, electric scooters, electric scoot car, 4 wheel truck, and others. Handle multiple projects simultaneously. Provide technical support as needed to customers. Source parts, DOT, etc. in China
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Strong Design skills in Automotive vehicles and Consumer products. Able to utilize software solidworks, etc. and photos to digitize to rapid prototyping.
Engineering experience related to electric vehicles, alternative power or related field, including actual hands-on experience. Strong background in developing new products, including the design of electrical circuitry,motor controls. Automotive/Consumer product program launch experience. Business/trade experience with other cultures, especially in manufacturing. Chinese exposure preferred. Experience writing reports, business correspondence and procedure and procedure manuals. Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, AutoCAD & Solid works. Be familiar with and uphold adherence to applicable federal regulations, including DOT, EPA, CARB and SAE. Hands on skills, operating machine shop and tools, welding, automotive skills transmissions

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mechanical preferred, with product design emphasis.

PROJECT ENGINEER ZAP is currently looking for a project engineer for ZAP’s electric vehicle development activities. The candidate will be working with both micro-cars and electric cars, as well as other alternative energy vehicles. The candidate will be working with our manufacturing partners overseeing engineering, manufacturing and quality controls. This will be a highly entrepreneurial position in a highly entrepreneurial environment. The candidate MUST have automotive engineering experience, be familiar with all DOT and EPA requirements, and be familiar with global parts sourcing and safety engineering, emission testing and compliance matters. Experience working on electric vehicles will be helpful, but not necessary. MUST have educational background in mechanical and design engineering. The position will be based in Santa Rosa, CA, but travel will be required.

AUTOMOTIVE FLEET SALES ZAP is looking for an experienced Automotive Sales Representative to help establish and manage fleet accounts. This candidate must develop sales leads into prospects and multi-unit purchase orders.
The candidate must have excellent written and oral communication skills. The candidate must be well-organized to manage many prospects and accounts at the same time. Understanding of government, Corporate and Education sales is required, as well as an understanding of the automotive industry. Previous experience selling to fleets is highly preferred.
Light travel may be required. The candidate will report to the Automotive Division Sales Manager.

AUTOMOTIVE DEALER SALES ZAP is looking for an experienced Automotive Sales Representative to establish and maintain automotive dealers to sell our vehicles. The candidate will manage new dealer leads within target markets and must be able to develop prospects into licensed dealers. Additionally, the candidate will manage specific dealer accounts. The responsibilities include regular communications with the licensed dealerships as well as managing the customer service and marketing needs to the dealership. Experience with Automotive Dealers, as well as having excellent sales, communications and organizational skills is absolutely required. Previous dealer finance experience is highly preferred.
