LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Advanced transportation pioneer ZAP (OTC BB: ZAAP) will unveil a new lithium battery system that powers a wide array of mobile electronics, from mp3 players to laptops, at the world's largest technology trade show, CES in Las Vegas.
[ZAP ZAAP Battery Technology ] ZAP is at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas to unveil its new battery system to one of the world's largest events for the electronics industry. A pioneer in electric cars, scooters, bicycles and other advanced transportation technologies, ZAP is establishing an energy division for the advanced energy technologies it has been developing for cars and packaging it for the electronics industry. CEO Steve Schneider says battery technology is progressing rapidly and sees an opportunity for ZAP to pursue the co-development of these technologies.
"The U.S. market for advanced batteries is expected to double over the next three years and much of the predicted growth is attributable to hybrid and electric vehicles sales," says Schneider. "We see an opportunity for ZAP to take a leadership role in both these areas of development to further our goal of zero-emission transportation. The battery technology also works well with our research into hydrogen hybrid vehicle systems."
Schneider says ZAP's new Portable Energy(TM) system will revolutionize mobile electronics. The lithium-polymer battery system has four times the energy density of conventional batteries and is compatible to 80 percent of mobile electronics. About the size of a diary, the rechargeable battery system can power and recharge a wide range of mobile electronics devices, including laptops, cell phones, handheld computers, gaming systems, audio players, cameras, camcorders and more -- several at the same time.
The ZAP Battery is great for traveling business people. The battery system can be recharged at any household outlet and is rechargeable up to 500 times. The ZAP can power a wide range of electronics through different power ports, including a USB port for 4 to 6 volt gadgets, DC port for 7 to 11 volts and a DC laptop port for up to 19 volts.
