BOARD OF DIRECTORS

 

Priscilla M. Lu, PhD, Chairman of the Board, is General Partner and Founder of Cathaya Capital. She is Vice Chairman of Asia Pacific Medical Group and co-founder of Better World International Ltd.. She was China advisor to Mayfield for more than 5 years and helped found GSR Fund in China. Formerly she was CEO of ViDeOnline, a digital media company delivering secured broadband and mobile networks to service providers in China. She was Founder, Chairman and CEO of interWAVE Communications for ten years and took the company public on the NASDAQ. Lu was a Bell Lab Scientist at AT&T Bell Laboratories for 16 years. She has a B.S. and M.S. in Computer Science and Mathematics, University of Wisconsin, Madison and holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Northwestern University, funded as a Bell Labs Scholar. Dr. Lu has over 50 patents in telecommunications and networking. She is on several Boards, including Northwestern University’s Engineering School’s McCormick Advisory Board.

Wang "Alex" Gang, Director

ZAP Jonway Co-CEO and Jonway Auto CEO Gang "Alex" WangMr. Gang "Alex" Wang ,  has served as Co-Chief Executive Officer and director of ZAP since October 2010. Mr. Wang has also been the Chief Executive Officer of ZAP’s now 51% owned subsidiary Zhejiang Jonway Automobile Co. Ltd., or Jonway, since March 2009. He has been the Chief Operating Officer of Jonway Group Co., Ltd. from June 2006 to March 2009. Mr. Wang graduated from the University of Sunderland in the United Kingdom with an undergraduate degree in business administration.

Mark Abdou, Director

Mark Abdou, ZAP DirectorMr. Mark Abdou  has served as a director of ZAP since June 2009. Mr. Abdou founded and has been the Managing Partner of Libertas Law Group, a law firm, since April 2009. From August 2008 to March 2009, Mr. Abdou served as General Counsel and Senior Vice President of GTX Corp, which developed miniaturized GPS tracking and cellular location-transmitting technology platforms for integration into a wide variety of consumer products. From December 2003 to August 2008, Mr. Abdou was a partner at Richardson & Patel, LLP, a law firm. Mr. Abdou received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Southern California in 1996, and his Juris Doctorate from the UC Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall) in 1999. Thereafter, he was licensed to practice law by the California State Bar in 1999. In March of 2011, Mr. Abdou was engaged by the Company to handle the corporate legal work including SEC compliance.
 

Goman Chong , Director ,  serves as a general partner of Cathaya Capital, L.P. He has also been the President of Daifu Waste Management Holdings Limited since September 2007, a medical waste management company invested in by Goldman Sachs. Mr. Chong served as the Chief Executive Officer of Daifu Group, a medical information portal, from June 2007 to January 2009. From April 2004 to January 2006, he served as a Business Development Manager in Beijing for News Corporation, a global media company. Mr. Chong received his MBA degree from the Tsinghua–M.I.T. Sloan joint program at Tsinghua School of Economics and Management in 2004, and his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics, Statistics and Actuarial Science from the University of Toronto in 1997.

Aileen Kao,  Deputy General Manager at ZAP (Hangzhou) Electric Vehicle Co., Ltd, a joint venture company with a focus on green transportation technology. Under her leadership, ZAP (Hangzhou) has built a great technical savvy team to provide know-how solutions to meet China’s emerging and dynamic new energy automobile industry. Ms. Kao came to ZAP with broad experience in several established companies including BASF, Eastman Kodak, Bell Atlantic, Cisco and interWAVE Communications, all of which afforded her with increased responsibilities and helped transition her from a hands-on software engineer to a seasoned executive at ZAP.
In addition to her demanding professional work, Ms. Kao has been very active in her community in Saratoga, California. She was first elected to serve on Saratoga school governing board in 1998 and then elected to Saratoga City Council in 2004 and served as Mayor in 2007.
Ms. Kao holds a BS in Pharmacy from Taipei Medical University, Taiwan and a MS in Chemistry from University of Rhode Island, Rhode Island, USA.

Mr. Co Nguyen serves as Chief Financial Officer of Cathaya Capital. He has extensive experience in corporate finance, organization restructuring and M&A. He was previously Corporate Finance Director of Jaccar Holdings Vietnam where he managed the investment portfolio of Jaccar Group’s subsidiaries. Before joining Jaccar Holdings in 2008, Mr. Nguyen was Deputy Director of Corporate Strategy and Finance Department of Prudential Life Insurance (Vietnam). Mr. Nguyen’s main responsibilities were to plan and control the business plan for the company; to set up the Balanced Scorecard for the company; to run the Risk Management Committee; and to chair the Steering Committee for cross-functional strategic projects. Mr. Nguyen also has 7-years with FedEx in France as Senior Financial Advisor and 3-year professional experience with Ernst & Young as an Auditor.

Steven Schneider, Director
Mr. Steve Schneider, was formerly Chief Executive Officer of ZAP from October 2002 to May 2012. Mr. Schneider currently serves President of Tianyi Investment Group of China.  He is also the Vice Chairman of Samyong Optics Co., Ltd., a Korean optical lens manufacturing and distribution company turning to the electric vehicle market in Korea. Recently, Mr. Schneider was named a member of the Bay Area Council; (business leaders committed to promoting the health and well-being of the Bay Area with a focus on building the economic region's relationship with China). Mr. Schneider possesses particular knowledge and experience in automotive industry that strengthens the Board of Directors' collective qualifications, skills, and experience.

Wang Huai Yi, Chairman of Jonway Group, established and founded Jonway Auto, based in Zhejiang Province.  Mr. Wang is a well-established entrepreneur in Taizhou, Zhejiang Province.  Jonway Group has a broad set of businesses ranging from automobiles to motorcycles, and auto parts to real estates.  He founded Jonway Auto more than ten years ago, using the automobile catalogue license that he had with UFO, headquartered in Hangzhou.  As Chairman of Jonway Group, he has been very involved in the direct operations management of Jonway Auto.
