8,000-Watt Wheel Motor Nearly 3x More Powerful than Zapino Scooter Motor, with Minimal Increase in Weight and Size New Design Could Go into Production in 4-Wheel EVs by Next Year SANTA ROSA, CA -- May 19, 2009 -- Electric vehicle pioneer ZAP (OTC BB:ZAAP.OB) has unveiled an 8,000-watt wheel motor powering both rear wheels of a production ZAP electric truck.

SANTA ROSA, California -- Kudos are in order for ZAP Fleet customer Ghilotti Construction Company in receiving a 2009 Business Environmental Alliance’s best practices award this February. Ghilotti was one of the first fleets to purchase ZAP’s new XL Truck, a larger truck for handling heavier loads. Ghilotti purchased the XL Truck along with its original Xebra truck for its fleet. Ghilotti operates an internal-combustion fleet of over 200 heavy duty vehicles, which they fuel with a biodiesel blend. Ghilotti also remodeled its headquarters using ‘green’ practices as well as promoting environmental awareness among its employees, according to the North Bay Business Journal.

SANTA ROSA, CA (Mar 10, 2009) -- Steve Schneider, CEO of electric transportation pioneer ZAP (OTC BB:ZAAP.OB), commended officials at newly formed ZAP Motor Manufacturing Kentucky on their commitment to build electric vehicles under a supply agreement with ZAP. Schneider acknowledged ongoing talks with Franklin-based ZAP Motor Manufacturing Kentucky led by CEO Gary Dodd and his new management team to build and assemble several of ZAP's best-selling electric vehicles. Schneider said Dodd and his senior executive staff, with extensive experience in building factories for Toyota, Mercedes and other automotive projects, can create jobs and help stimulate the Kentucky economy.

On February 20, 2009 ZAP hosted its monthly dealer training seminar, providing a select group of current and prospective dealers with a preview of its new freeway-capable vehicle, the ZAP Alias, due out later this year.
