Hollywood Celebrities "Going Green" to Support Environmental Concerns
Submitted by nhayssen on Tue, 01/29/2008 - 13:39.
Sometimes it takes a celebrity in Hollywood to bring awareness to the important issues of what's going on in the world.
Popular actors in Hollywood have recently been preaching "Going Green" to spread the message about helping clean up the environment and the importance of doing your part.
Although, do they practice what they preach?
Who of these celebrities are actually driving around electric or solar vehicles? It's important as leaders and role models to lead by example.
For instance, Cameron Diaz drives a hybrid car. Leonardo DiCaprio produces television programs on the environment. Brad Pitt is helping the environmental group Global Green rebuild New Orleans "green-style."

Submitted by nhayssen on Tue, 01/29/2008 - 13:28.
Have you seen the EV Challenge?
This is so awesome!
Every highschool across American should implement this idea. Students get to build electric cars.
Middle school students build and compete model solar-powered cars.
High school students convert full-sized gasoline-powered vehicles into electric vehicles.
Students learn about electric technology throughout the year and then come together for a 2 day finale. Very cool.

What Makes an Electric Car... an Electric Car??
Submitted by nhayssen on Tue, 01/29/2008 - 13:22.
What exactly makes an electric car, well.. an electric car?
If you were to look on the outside of an electric car you might not have any idea it's electric.
An electric car is a car powered by an electric motor rather than a gasoline engine.
In most cases, electric cars are created by converting a gasoline car. One way to know you are driving an electric car is that you will hear hardly any noise!
If you peak under the hood of an electric car you will notice what the differences are:
1. An Electric Motor
The gas engine is now an electric motor.
2. A Controller
This electric motor gets its power from a controller.
3. Rechargeable Batteries
This controller gets its power from a variety of rechargeable batteries.

Submitted by nhayssen on Tue, 01/29/2008 - 13:09.
Why do electric cars show up in the news all the time? Why is it that electric cars seem so popular these days?
The reasons are short and simple:
1. Less Pollution
Electric cars create less pollution than gasoline cars - period.
2. Environmentally Friendly
Electric cars are environmentally friendly compared to the alternative gasoline car. This is especially true in major cities throughout the world.
3. Solutions for Environmental Destruction
Environmental concerns are at all time high. Gas shortages and pollution are big news. One of the solutions is to buy an alternate to a gas polluting vehicle including an Electric car.
That's it.
