SANTA ROSA, Calif.--Former United Airlines Shuttle President Amos S. Kazzaz has agreed to join electric car pioneer ZAP (OTC BB: ZAAP - News) as Chief Operating Officer.

Due to the recent introduction and subsequent overwhelming acceptance of the new XEBRA electric cars and trucks, ZAP has initiated an expansion of its marketing and distribution network. "We realize that our continued growth will require the addition of seasoned, experienced leadership to help us achieve our future growth." Recently, ZAP and Lotus Engineering announced plans to develop a new electric car based on the APX (Aluminum Performance Crossover) concept, which showcases Lotus Engineering's Versatile Vehicle Architecture technology that earned a European Aluminum Award in 2006. Yesterday, ZAP released designs for the ZAP-X compact SUV that will use this technology and CEO Steve Schneider said that developments are moving forward beyond his expectations.
