ZAP Appoints Mr. Kim as Director of Investor Relations

SEBASTOPOL, California (September 29, 2004) - Advanced automotive technology company ZAP (OTC BB:ZAAP) announced today that Mr. Kim has joined the Company as Director of Investor Relations.

Mr. Kim will be spearheading a new Investor Relations (IR) initiative over the next few months where he will be helping ZAP to increase exposure in the investment community in a number of areas. In addition to assisting with day-to-day IR programs, Mr. Kim will be helping ZAP to gain more exposure to institutional investors, particularly socially responsible mutual funds, hedge funds and high net worth individuals.

NEW YORK - Oil prices reached a record $50 a barrel on Monday as Nigeria emerged as the latest focus for worries about supply in an already tight worldwide energy market.

The U.S. light crude front month contract rose a further 36 cents a barrel in after-hours electronic trading to hit $50, its loftiest level in the 21 years of trade on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

London Brent, the benchmark for European crude imports, settled 60 cents higher at $45.13, after hitting a new record of $46.28 a barrel.
